DIY: Chair Upholstery

I have expensive taste and dream of a fancy office chair like one of the brightest, most colorful bloggers to grace this world, McKenna Bleu’s (check out her office here), but for now I am DIY-ing it up!
I found this super drab chair at Goodwill about a week ago for $5.50. Since this was my first upholstery project, I didn’t want to choose anything too intricate and end up crying while my floor was covered in fabric SO this was the perfect chair to test my skills.
In addition to the chair, I picked up:
– a staple gun (I’ve always wanted one) $10
– staples $3
– spray paint from Lowes $5
– fabric $6
I rrrrrreally wanted to get fuchsia velvet but no fabric store I went to had any and I was being too impatient to order some online. The fabric I choose wass a simple cotton blend.
So step 1…unscrew the cushion from the chair.
Step 2, wipe the chair down (you could/maybe should add sanding and priming to the list here but I skipped it, too impatient)
Step 3, spray paint!
Now the fun part, the cushion.
My cushion had already been reupholstered once in its life (with the shell fabric) so I ripped that part off and found this. I liked the padding on it so I didn’t add anymore.
Step 4, measure and cut your fabric. I left about 3 inches on each side. In retrospect 1 inch may have been better…
Step 5, cut angles into the corners to make folding easier. Make sure not to cut too far!
Step 5, my personal favorite: STAPLE! This thing packs a punch too…it scared me the first time I fired it (don’t worry dad, I took all the staples out of it once I was finished).
After stapling around the whole thing, I quickly learned that it was not going to screw on easily because of the amount of overlapped fabric SO I cut off a lot of excess and ended up with this…(behind my attempt of an artsy screwdriver pic ha).
I am so happy with the finished product and even more excited that the room designated as “the office” in our house is no longer resembling a black hole for all our junk haha.
Now I have the DIY bug…hit me with ideas in the comments!

Look at the Manufacturer warrantee – nearly each workplace chair comes with a manufacturer warrantee, and if they are doing not it's in all probability not price your investment. it's crucial to scan every manufacturer's warrantee to see if the chair of interest are going to be a worthy purchase. resolve what components square measure secured and for the way long every part of the chair is secured for.
