Wedding Wednesday: Honeymoon Part 2

When Ryan and I got engaged, we decided that I would plan the wedding and he would plan the honeymoon. Of course I helped him decide to go to Costa Rica but my only requirements on where to stay was, “breakfast with a view.” The Villa Caletas definitely accomplished that!
We spent the first half of our honeymoon in the jungle (see post here) and so after we white water rafted out, we rented a car and headed to the west coast! I was honestly super nervous to be driving around a foreign country but we got a wireless wifi connector that allowed us to use waze to navigate!
It was night by the time we made it to the Villas so we had to go up these steep and crazy roads in the DARK! So scary but we made it. Our room was amazing and had its own pool and hot tub that overlooked the side of the mountain/cliff that the hotel sat on. We awoke to see this in the morning…
It was breathtaking! And there were so many toucans that would hang out in the trees everyday!
We chose Costa Rica mostly because my husband loves to surf. Every morning we woke up early, got the best seat at the Villa’s restaurant for breakfast and hooped in the car in search of waves. Isn’t our car adorbs (lol).
I do not surf but I was pumped to finally get some sun since the rainforest was very shaded. The sun was perfect by 8am or 9 but by 12 we had to head back to the hotel everyday because the black sand would get SO hot that I couldn’t bear it! I love the beach so that says a lot about how hot it was. But it wasn’t a problem because we’d grab lunch then hit the pool. Gosh, I miss being tan…
One day we went to the Taco Bar and it was amazing! Delicious food and you could sit in swings while you ate!
Although we had a private pool, we’d usually go to the main pool because it was an infinity pool, they had a bar there AND the view of the sunset was great!
The Villas were more of your typical honeymoon spot (with frou-frou drinks, tons of food and beaches) but it was the perfect way to end our trip. But don’t worry, we still went on an adventurous horseback ride complete with a hike to see another waterfall 😉 I can’t wait to show y’all the gro pro video I am working on!
