Puerto Rico Surf Trip Recap

It has been a full week since we got back from Puerto Rico and I am ready to pack my bags and head back lol. This was my husbands 6th year traveling to Aguadilla and my brother and I’s 2nd. It is a place we all have come to love for its warm weather, yummy food, and of course, big waves.

We always fly Jet Blue to PR because surf boards are only $50 per board (oh how my priorities have changed since marriage). My bag of course was over weight (thank God the bag itself is light as a feather) but as long as we had our surf boards we were good to go. Oh and our spearguns (try saying “speargun” at TSA, very exciting). We flew from Richmond to Orlando and then from Orlando to Aguadilla on a red eye. We arrived in PR around 4am and headed to our apartment.

Puerta Del Mar was our home for the week. The apartment was nothing fancy but it was comfortable, clean, and safe. We spent most of our time out of it anyways 😉 .

Upon arrival, we napped for a few hours then packed up to hit the beach.

Our first stop was Middles Beach. One of the hub’s favorite surf spots. The boys probably surfed for 3 hours on their first paddle out. What did I do? Sunbathed and prayed. I joke that the vacation was a surf trip for them and a prayer trip for me! I really do love some good alone time so add the sun and I am in heaven.

Around lunch time we would head out to find food. We dined at authentic Puerto Rican restaurants and even went for some Puerto Rican fast food. One of my favorite spots is the Eclipse Restaurant at Villa Montana. I hope to stay there one day when we go but the food it to die for!

These are the pork arepas I got for brunch one day. Delish!

We also hit surfers beach and wilderness beach a lot when the surf was as they say “firing.”

But in the afternoons we consistently ended up at Crashboat Beach (photo credit).

At Crashboat, the waves are minimal but the sangria caparisons and real coconuts are flowing!

This is the place where (if you saw my instagram story) I saw the man that could talk to pelicans! He is actually pictured on the Wikipedia page for the beach too!

This beach was also the perfect spot to sit and watch the sunset…

(I actually met the man that took the above photo while watching the sun set! Love your work John Hargis.)

One of the days the surf was small, so we drove to La Parguera to rent a boat and hunt lobsters!

Unfortunately, we totally failed but it was so cool to take a boat out!

My one piece game was strong this trip. This black one was a total winner. I also ordered this pink one but it didn’t come in in time so I am counting down the days till I can wear it this summer…93 days!

Let me give you a pro tip though…if you care about your tan, wear the two piece in the morning and the one piece in the afternoon 😉

Ahhh Puerto Rico, you have my heart…

Do you have any vacations planned this year? If so where?!

I love your one-piece! This post makes me want to head to the beach ASAP! I’m happy it has been warm here in PA but I’m still craving that sand between my toes!
