As an entrepreneur I have to stay organized but as a creative, I am really not always great at staying organized. Lol. I admitted this to myself before I began my business so I have since tried my best to combat it. When it comes to taxes though, I got especially overwhelmed and nervous.
What can I write off? What do I claim? Special forms? How does this effect my husband? These were just a few of the thousand questions swirling through my head until I met Amy Northard at TBSCON this past summer. I took her workshop and a few of my questions were answered, praise hands emojis!
When I came home I took her “Be Your Own CFO” class and holy wow, I feel so much better about being a creative entrepreneur (that the IRS is not chasing down).
Ok, well…I guess right away I actually felt a little more stressed. The subject matter isn’t light when it comes to taxes. BUT, even though I was a bit overwhelmed at first, Amy understands that and helps to combat it with cute print outs (very insta worthy too, I might add) and easy to follow tutorials.
She talks about book keeping beyond quickbooks. She suggests free programs and even tells you how to do it correctly if you are more of a pin and paper kind of girl like myself.
I don’t have it all figured out entirely yet but I can tell you I wasn’t laying on a beach in Puerto Rico two days ago stressing about my taxes. Plus if I have questions, Amy has a Facebook group which she and other creatives can answer questions on! So, I am laying on a beach in Puerto Rico right now but I am straight chilling. No stress.
I am new to blogging – so I still have a lot to learn, and this was very informative! Thanks for the tips 🙂

This class seems PHENOMENAL! I am definitely checking it out! Isn’t it funny how people always think accountants have bad style?! My husband is one and I think his style rocks (most of the time) lol
