Heart to Heart Vol. 2

What is it that they say…that perception is reality? Well I am not trying to go too deep on y’all today but I definitely think we live in a world of constantly comparing ourselves to others. This has been on my mind so much lately and after my pastor preached on it on Sunday I knew I had to share my thoughts.
We all have a different path and just because we don’t know exactly what we want or where we are going to be in 10 years that doesn’t make us any less equipped to be successful. This pin on people who have done big things always makes me feel so much better. Sam Walton founded Walmart at 44. Mark Twain wrote Huckleberry Finn at 49. Colonel Sanders founded KFC at 65 (thank God, nom). What I am trying to say is that just because you didn’t invented snapchat doesn’t mean you won’t do something cool.
I think a lot of our comparing comes from social media. Heck, y’all know I love social media and make a living off of it, but if the people you are following make you feel down on yourself then stop following them. I’ll use myself as an example. I used to follower bloggers that I compared myself to heavily. No matter what I did, I couldn’t measure up. I know they have no intention of doing this to me or anyone else when they post but it is a real feeling and I know I am not the only one that struggles with it. Over the past few months I have been trying to follow encouragers and people who inspire me…here are a few if you’d like to do the same:
  1. @Shepaintstruth_ – it’s art and Jesus all in one!
  2. @2sisters_angie – y’all remember the little girl that makes dresses out of paper? We she keeps growing and I love following her. Except…she will def probs do something amazing by 25 so beware, lol.
  3. @floretflower – because who doesn’t love seeing beautiful flowers…
  4. @littlewhale3 – this girl lives in the 757 and although I have never met her, she is just so real and I love it! The combo of her gorgeous pics and hilarious captions always make me laugh.
  5. @jessconnolly – co-writer to my current favorite book, Wild and Free. She speaks my language anddd they talk a lot about comparisons in the book!
  6. @acolorstory – my fav app also has an account and it is so bright and so cheery!
  7. @corine_white – no idea who she is but I love her pup and Wyoming landscape photos.
