Picking a Push Present with Diamonds Direct

This Push Present post is sponsored by Diamonds Direct of Virginia Beach. All opinions and experiences are authentically my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support me!

Push Present - Diamonds Direct

If you saw my Instagram post then you know that I recently “dragged” Ryan to Diamonds Direct just outside of Town Center to start the process of picking out a push present!

All joking aside, he was happy to join me because he has seen how hard it is to push a baby out. Can I get a hallelujah, mamas?

When he chose my engagement ring, he did an amazing job, but he never got a “diamond education.” I feel this is so important for anyone purchasing or wearing diamonds because knowledge is power! Especially with an investment like diamonds.

Stephanie began our Push Present shopping trip by teaching us about the 4 c’s of a diamond…

  1. Cut – This ensures the brilliance (brightness, fire, symmetry) of a diamond. You don’t want your diamond to be cut too shallow or too deep.
  2. Carat Weight – Can be seen as size but it is actually the measurement of a diamond’s weight.
  3. Color – This describes how white a diamond appears. They have a chart (linked here) that begins with “D” which is the absence of color that goes all the way to “Z,” representing light coloring. This scale is not used for “fancy” or colored diamonds like JLo’s ring.
  4. Clarity – Describes the purity of the diamond, meaning if and how many inclusions the diamond has and their effect on the clarity.

One other important “C” is certification! A vast majority of Diamond Direct’s diamonds come with a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certificate. This certificate shows that the diamond was graded by the GIA lab, which has no affiliation with any retailer and has the qualities it says it does.

Trying on the diamonds…

After our education, we were ready to look at diamond studs as a push present! Above are 3 different carat-weight studs shown on my ear.

I thought the 1.5 carat was a perfect size. These pictured above were an “H” on the color scale (so near colorless) and an SI2 on the clarity scale, meaning they had slight inclusions. They were also around 1.6 total carats. The price was a bit higher than we wanted to spend, so I asked Stephanie to pull a similar pair at a lower cost.

The second pair she pulled was 1.42 total carats, a “J” on the color scale (so still near colorless but lower than the previous pair), and only one step down on the clarity chart at I1.

The price difference was more than 40%, and we could hardly tell the difference. Plus, I don’t mind a little more color in my diamonds because I like them set in yellow gold.

I tell you this to illustrate that being educated and having many options to choose from is a HUGE benefit to a diamond buyer!

Some perks…

Diamonds Direct also has an amazing upgrade system! They allow customers to trade their original engagement diamond, solitaire diamond pendant, and diamond studs for a different size, quality, or shape! Customers can come in as often as desired to trade in the original diamond (after the first year) and you’re only required to pay the difference between the two diamonds. It’s easy and you get 110% of your original purchase toward your new purchase!

So if we wanted to upgrade my push present diamond studs for my birthday in 5 years, we could! Read more here.

Lastly, Diamonds Direct offers amazing financing options that can sometimes be interest-free depending on your credit. When you talk with their knowledgeable and caring team, one on one, they will help you figure out what is best for you and your budget.

I have said so many times before to tell your significant other exactly what you want. Alleviate potential disappointment or wonder! That is why I brought Ryan to Diamonds Direct for my push present.

I also strongly believe in spending money on timeless fine jewelry instead of things that will not last through trends or suffer deterioration. I can’t wait to bless my girls with my jewelry one day and see them wear it proudly. My eyes fill with tears just thinking about it!
