Same Shorts, Different Year

I can hardly believe that I have been blogging for TWO YEARS! Time has literally flown by! The photo on the left was taken in Winston Salem, NC and I was a single lady (well dating Ry at the time) and on the right, I am in Virginia Beach, VA and married! If you told the girl on the left where she’d be in the photo on the right, she wouldn’t believe you!
So commemorate this special time I decided to rock the shorts I wore in my first ever blog post (link here, click with caution lol) and to share what I have learned from blogging. But first, the #ootd details:

Topshop top (love! wearing sz 6) // Old Lilly shorts, similar here // Urban Expressions bag
Jack Rogers sandals // H&M tassel earrings, similar here
Now, lets get down to it. What I have learned:
  1. Just do it. I hear from people that want to start a blog allllll the time but they put it off because they want it to be perfect before they start. Girl, I have been blogging for 2 years and am far from perfect so just start.
  2. Everyone and their mom does it now. Apart from the people thinking about starting a blog are the people that have a blog. There are sooooo many blogs out there and it is for this reason that I think you should blog about whatever you want. When I started, I only blogged about fashion but my life is so much more than that. So now, I blog about fashion and whatever else makes my heart happy in the hopeful mindset that it will make your heart happy too.
  3. You gotta love it. Contrary to popular belief, blogging does not make you rich (case in point: I am wearing the same shorts from 2 years ago in this post). I started this blog with the idea that it would blow up and make me famous which equals lots of money. Oh how hilarious. If you see an amazon link on this blog, I can tell you that even if you decide to purchase what I am suggesting my percentages are low. More money will come with more readers but that takes time, so I post because I love to.
  4. Celebrate others’ success. This was a big lesson for me. We live in a world where it always looks like another blogger’s (or person’s, for that matter) grass is greener. I constantly compared myself to other bloggers. Some of them began 10 years ago and some began when I did (or even after). They’d have liketoknowit or a post sponsored by Lulu and Georgia and I’d get jealous! While I still occasionally compare, I try to push that out of my mind and be happy for that other blogger or person. I try to learn from their success, not envy it.
  5. It’s worth it. Even when just one person says they read something you wrote and it helped them or they liked it or heck, even if they say they just read it, it feels great and is worth every minute (or hour or year lol) spent.
