The Surf Trip

I promise this is the LAST I will post about last weeks trip to Puerto Rico…maybe…
So, Saturday night we took a red eye out of Charlotte. After our layover in NYC, we arrived in PR around 5am…we were struggling to say the least . Once the sun finally came up and we saw this beautiful backyard we could call home for the next week, we got our energy back and headed to the beach.
The house was in Aguadilla and was so close to all the beaches that the boys wanted to surf.
Unfortunately the overnight flight hit me a little later and I passed out to find I had gotten a gnarly sunburn in the bathing suit above…the sunburn was not cute but at least the bathing suit was…
Here is our view from the cliff behind our house…we would see people on horses go by every day so we found the tour and took it ourselves!
It was AMAZING! They took us through the jungle and on the beach and we even got to GALLOP! I felt so free! Halfway through the ride, the tour guide took us to a trail we climbed to the top of another cliff with a gorgeous view…there wasn’t much standing room though…
The hike was a little extensive…Ryan said he was proud of me for stepping outside of my comfort zone haha. I guess me climbing things was not something he expected.
Another day we adventured to a local waterfall! It was beautiful! The water was extremely cold though…some people jumped off the top of the falls (not pictured, THATS how high it was)!
And of course what is a surf trip without surf days…everyday. We hit surf spots with cool names like “Wilderness,” “Middles,” and “Survivor Beach.”
These pictures are from a day at Jobos…how sweet is my bathing suit?! It is made of neoprene like a wet suit! Please forgive my hair…ha it was not a priority.
Another day we went to Surfer’s Beach. I’d love to tell you that we drove around in this bad boy but the truth is we were in a Kia van on our trip.
The VW felt so iconic though that a photo was necessary.
When it came to meals we cooked for ourselves a lot and it was fun but we did go out a few times. One night we went to a place called The Beach House and had amazing fish. Another night we ordered takeout Thai because Thai is my fav and everyone on yelp raved about the place. And then one night we went to a resort that was close by that had a restaurant called Eclipse attached that was to DIE for! Ryan and I split a lobster, a pizza, and a bottle of Malbec. It was so good that we came back for brunch on our last day where I got the same pizza and of course bottomless mimosas.
(These kittys acted like they owned the place)
It was, without a doubt, the BEST vacation I have EVER been on. I am blessed to say that I have been on a cruise, I have experienced an all inclusive resort and THIS topped both! It was just so nice to do whatever we wanted and in such an amazing environment. I would suggest PR to anyone and everyone! I cannot wait to go back next year! Who’s in?!
